JazzKnob.org is dedicated to the memory of the world’s first all-jazz radio station,
KNOB-FM in Long Beach, California, and its creator, Alex “Sleepy” Stein.
Though the station only lasted  from 1957 to 1966,
it set the standard for all the jazz stations that followed.

JazzKnob.org also originates from Long Beach, CA.
Our music attempts to stay true to the sound and the mission of Sleepy’s operation.
The bulk of the selections are from the 1950s and ’60s, with later recordings of which,
hopefully, Sleepy would have approved.

To Sleepy Stein, then, as well as Chuck Niles,
Ed Young, Pat Collette, Rex Stewart, Alan Harvey,

Howard Lucraft, Will Thornbury, Bob Shayne
and all the other legendary air personalities
featured on the original Jazz Knob:

We salute You.
Your memory lives on at JazzKnob.org.
